Today I am wandering around in Nanaimo. Yesterday evening Ayaka from Japan and her Spanish boyfriend Pablo picked my up from the bus station. I slept on her couch while her friend Brendan who is also visiting, slept on the ground.
I had sushi for lunch (I could easily remove the tails which were sticking out), I picked up a great souvenir for my little brother and I also found something cool for the girlfriend of the other brother (you better be still together when I get back!)
Later this afternoon I will visit the harbour, tonight we’re going to cook a late dinner together, and after that, we’re going to a bar where Brendan and Ayaka will play some music! Time flies when you’re having fun!
After a rainy day in Vancouver I met a Dutch guy in the hostel. Unfortunately he didn’t want to go out and I didn’t feel like walking alone outside in the evening, so we stayed in the ‘living room’ and chatted some. On Sunday I checked out Stanley Park, on a beautiful day in the sunshine.
Yesterday Yvette picked me up from the ferry on Vancouver Island. We spend the day driving around, visiting Rodd Hill and the Fisgard Lighthouse and we even did some shopping. The whole day, I was tired. The alarm clock at 6 wasn’t very nice. So at 9.30 I fell asleep on her couch.
Today, my adventure into Victoria starts. With my backpacks I fist have to find the bus station to buy a ticket for tonight and to ‘park’ my luggage. Then I’m on the search for Craigsomething Castle. Wish me luck!
After a bus trip of about 12 hours, I arrived safely in Vancouver. It’s raining cats and dogs
Also, I unfortunately picked the wrong hostel
No cosyness, no breakfast, no internet, and a weird 40-ish room mate who lives here already for a couple of months and lies in her bed all day.
Don’t ever go to C&N hostels, but go to Cambie! I walked in there and the people were so nice and the cappuccino so delicious!
I did some sightseeing this morning, and after my lunch I’m going to find a bus which will take me to the University with its gardens and antropology museum. I hope tomorrow the weather will be better!
Greetings from the biggest and coolest library you’ve ever seen!

Tonight, the documentary Invisible Children was shown on campus. The flyer was impressive, and the subject, child soldiers, very interesting. So I went. And with me many more people. It was indeed impressive.
Three years ago, three college students from California decided to go to Uganda to see what they could film. Soon, they found their story. Thousands of children who left their home every night to sleep somewhere else, because they were afraid to be caught and trained as child soldiers.
The documentary contains makes you laugh, cry, laugh and cry again. I cannot believe I didn’t hear of this movie before.
Just as many other students, I came into action right away. I spend money to help these children. Children who have nothing but fear. If they can survive in the circumstances they ‘live’ in, I sure can miss some of my stupid money.
So, YOU, take your turn and DO something as well.
Check out the website or the MySpace

Or just give money
Can you miss one beer a week to give a child a future?

I’ve got some more pictures uploaded.
- Some new ones in the map ‘Diverse’ at the bottom
- Mike’s cabin in Idaho
- Climbing
- Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
I also made some rocking movies!
Djamal and Federico playing the piano and singing,
Jessica saying some phrases in Dutch,
thee guys playing a Beach Boys song on bandolines,
and three guys in work suits playing the Ghostbusters theme.
Unfortunately, you have to wait for these a couple of weeks.
I don’t have the time to put them on the internet right now.
In the meantime, make your own adventures and good times!

Hihi! –> “To assure that you keep your luggage to a minimum it will be necessary for you to carry all of your luggage at one time around one city block. This must be done without the help of wheels.”
